DR Courtney jones
Executive Director
Courtney Jones, Ed.D. is an accomplished executive-level education management professional with over two decades of leadership in K–12 education, nonprofit administration, and organizational development. She currently serves as Executive Director of the Center for Urban Transformation, where she leads strategic planning, fund development, and community-based initiatives, and as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Houston–Downtown, preparing the next generation of educators for success in urban school settings. A former principal and district-level leader for Houston ISD, Dr. Jones has spearheaded strategic reforms in special education, multilingual education, STEM programming, and social-emotional learning—earning multiple state distinctions, significantly improving student outcomes, and cultivating lasting community partnerships. Her expertise spans educational leadership, instructional coaching, policy development, and nonprofit governance.
In addition to her professional work, Dr. Jones is an author, devoted mother of two, and Board Chair of Perfect Connection, a nonprofit dedicated to autism awareness and education. She is also a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, where she actively supports initiatives that promote education, service, and community empowerment. Her career and community service are guided by a passion for equity, access, and empowering individuals to reach their fullest potential. She is a sought-after public speaker and mentor, known for her ability to inspire, lead with integrity, and drive impactful change in both educational and nonprofit spaces.

DR Demi Walker
Lead Case Manager
Dr. Demi Walker is the Lead Case Manager at the Center for Urban Transformation, bringing more than 25 years of experience in education. She has served as an elementary teacher in Alief ISD, Director of Special Populations in Houston ISD, adjunct instructor of Integrated Reading and Writing at Houston Community College, and Clinical Coach at the University of Houston–Downtown. Passionate about supporting diverse learners, she works to create opportunities that help every student succeed.
Beyond her professional role, Dr. Walker is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, the Houston Area Urban League, The Barbara Bush Literacy Guild, and Top Ladies of Distinction. She is also on the Board of Directors for the Pink and Green Charitable Foundation. She treasures life with her husband, their son, and their daughter, and finds joy in family, community service, and empowering others through education. -

Shantel Vallecilla is a dedicated bilingual case manager with extensive experience supporting youth and families through culturally responsive, community-focused services. A proud graduate of Texas Southern University with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Shantel brings a deep commitment to empowering individuals to overcome barriers, build resilience, and thrive.
As a native of Houston’s historic Fifth Ward—the very community she now serves—Shantel understands the unique challenges and strengths of the neighborhood firsthand. Her work focuses on teaching essential life skills, connecting families to critical resources, and advocating for equitable opportunities that foster long-term success. Known for her ability to build trust and rapport with youth, she leverages her professional expertise and lived experience to make a lasting impact.
Beyond her professional role, Shantel is a devoted mother and passionate community advocate. Her approach is guided by empathy, integrity, and a vision of creating a supportive environment where every young person has the tools and encouragement to reach their fullest potential.
